Come to 171 Cedar Arts Center this December for a Holiday Sale with a Café atmosphere.
The public is invited to kick off Holiday Café with an opening celebration,
Thursday, November 30th from 5:30 – 8:30pm with free gift wrapping for purchases. Refreshments will be served.
This is a free event.
Holiday Café runs through December 23rd.
Meet friends and enjoy coffee while browsing a selection of arts, fine craft, books and CDs by over 30 regional
artists, artisans, musicians, poets and authors.
Some highlights include:
Textile art dolls by the Kreepy Doll Factory, otherwise known as Jeffrey Vincent and Dan Baxter of Buffalo NY
who state on kreepydollfactory.com, “We make the dolls in order to bring our drawings to life; an idea that becomes
an image ––an image that becomes a touchable three-dimensional sculpture. We make creatures from another world
to inhabit our own.”
171 Curator Ann Welles says, “I’m excited that Jeff and Dan have agreed to bring their creations
to Corning. These dolls are truly unique, kind of quirky, and fun to experience.”
A collection of poetry books from FootHills Publishing including a new release, Listening to Water, Susquehanna Watershed Anthology. Another new book being offered at Holiday Café is Alysa of the Fields, by children’s book author Tina Field Howe or Corning NY.
Fine art including paintings by Jacquelyn Becker, drawings by Denny Smith both of Elmira NY and digital art
by Debb VanDelinder, also of Elmira who is featured in the November 2006 issue of American Art Collector Magazine.
A great selection of jewelry from a variety of artists including the high quality beadwork of Caitlin Hyde,
of Corning NY and metalwork of Emily Watson of Honeoye Falls, NY, who was part of a two person exhibition earlier this year
at the Houghton Gallery.
Holiday Café features Special Hours:
Weekdays, 9:00am – 9:00pm; Saturdays 9:00am – 2:00pm; Sundays 3:00pm – 6:00pm.
The Houghton Gallery is located in 171’s Drake House at 155 Cedar Street, in Corning.
Proceeds from Holiday Café benefit 171 Cedar
Arts Center.
