Painter Lin Price takes everyday elements and creates fantastical works where the mundane becomes
magical. She often emphasizes the human figure as in “The Castle”
which depicts a businessman moving through a fictional landscape featuring a castle. Animals also become characters in paintings
that suggest modern day fairy tales.
Lin Price received her BFA from Ithaca College and her MFA in painting from Bard College/Milton Avery
Graduate School of the Arts. She has been featured in exhibitions throughout
the Northeast. Highlights include being shown at the Munson Proctor Williams Art Institute; H.F. Johnson Museum of Art at
Cornell University; Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY; and the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield, MA.
Among other honors, Ms. Price has been the recipient of the Elaine DeKooning Memorial Award for painting
(Bard College). She participated in the residency program at the Saltonstall
Foundation and is a participant in the NYFA MARK ’09 program. Her work was included in Syracuse University’s annual
art journal, The Stone Canoe and can also be seen in the upcoming Quarterly #13, Journal of Art and Design.
Price teaches painting and drawing at Ithaca College. Her work is in the collection of the Munson
Williams Proctor Art Institute and in numerous private collections.
