Ron Saunders' machine-made paintings encourage us to question what constitutes expression in art. Saunders employs
basic physics through the use of gravity fed pendulums, motors, and the viscosity of paint.
Latent Cartographies journeys to where the lines are blurred between
process and product and between the artists' influence and the parameters of automatic process. Ron Saunders says of his work, "By the utilization of external forces, the
artist's hand is removed from the direct act of mark making, but indirectly, I am always involved. My presence
is evident through multiple outcomes from the same machine..."
